Ein Luftreiniger sorgt für eine bessere Luftqualität. Die Luftqualität in Innenräumen ist oft 10- bis 30-mal schlechter als die Luftqualität im Freien, was zum Teil auf die Verwendung von chemischen Reinigungsmitteln und Staub zurückzuführen ist. Kann ein HEPA-Luftreiniger das Coronavirus herausfiltern?

Coronavirus-Partikel sind immer von einem Kokon aus Atemwegsflüssigkeit (Aerosolen) umgeben. Der Gesamtdurchmesser dieser Aerosole einschließlich der Viruspartikel hängt von der Luftfeuchtigkeit ab, kann aber nicht kleiner sein als die Größe der Coronaviruspartikel. Diese haben eine Größe von 0,12 pm. Diese ist dann von einer Aerosolflüssigkeit umgeben. Ausgehend von der Filtrationseffizienz und der Größe der Aerosole, die das Coronavirus enthalten können, wird der Schluss gezogen, dass ein HEPA H13* das Virus abfangen kann. Dadurch wird die Aerosolkonzentration, die das Virus in einem Raum während des Systembetriebs enthalten kann, reduziert.
